Ensembles of models of current and future (2050) distributions of amphibians and reptiles in Europe

As part of our commitment to ALARM we are releasing projections of current and future distributions, under climate change scenarios for 2050, for a large sample of European vertebrate and plant species. At present we provide projections for reptiles and amphibians.

Because model projections are invariably uncertain, we provide ensembles of projections for every species. These ensembles were produced by varying parameters such as: Socio-economic scenarios (A1Fi, A2, B1, B2); General Circulation Models (Hadcm3, CSIRO2); Bioclimate models (artificial neural networks, classification tree analysis, generalized additive models, and generalized linear models); Cut-off rules to convert probabilities into presence absence data (Kappa statistic, AUC of ROC).

Towards the end of the project we will publish a printed version of the European Atlas of Climate Change Impacts on Biodiversity.
