Miguel Bastos Araújo was awarded the National Environmental Prize “Fernando Pereira” by the Portuguese Confederation of the Environmental NGOs (CPADA in Portuguese). This prize is awarded annually to outstanding personalities in the environmental conservation fields.

“I am deeply honoured to have received this award by fellow environmentalists”, says Miguel Araújo. “Prior to being undergraduate student and eventually becoming a biodiversity researcher, I was heavily involved in the work of environmental NGOs. As many youngsters, I believed I could change the world. Now I am less optimistic about it but I still try it”.
