Title of Position: Postdoctoral Researcher in Marine Conservation Science

 Candidate Profile:

  • Educational and Research Expertise: Candidates should possess a PhD in ecology, marine biology, oceanography, or related fields. A strong publication record in spatial conservation prioritization, particularly of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), is essential.
  • Additional Research Skills: Experience in climate change impact assessment, species distribution modelling, and marine macroecology will be highly regarded.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid skills in R (and/or Matlab or Julia) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are required.
  • Teamwork and Communication: The role demands the ability to work collaboratively in teams, effectively share ideas, and engage in networking.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent writing skills and fluency in English are mandatory. Spanish language skills are an asset but not a requirement.

What We Offer:

  • Contract Duration and Salary: A 3-year contract with a salary commensurate with experience, ranging from €40,000 (starting level) to approximately €50,000 (advanced level). This is exclusive of a 33.6% addition for social security.
  • Supervision and Collaboration: Supervised by Research Professor Miguel B. Araújo and another academic (to be determined), offering an opportunity for close collaboration and mentorship.
  • Research Environment: Opportunity to join a dynamic and international team of highly motivated researchers at National Museum of Natural Sciences (part of the CSIC) in Madrid.
