Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic team in the field of conservation science and ecological networks. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research on biodiversity conservation, habitat connectivity, and the role of protected areas in supporting ecological networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on the role of protected areas in preserving ecological networks and their role in biodiversity conservation.
- Develop and analyze spatial models of habitat connectivity, species distribution, and landscape fragmentation.
- Contribute to the understanding of how protected areas can be designed or optimized to improve conservation outcomes.
- Work with large datasets, including species distribution models and large-scale ecological networks of species interactions.
- Publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present findings at academic conferences.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong background in ecological networks, landscape ecology, or conservation biology.
- Demonstrated expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, or spatial modeling.
- Strong quantitative skills, including statistical analyses and familiarity with programming languages such as R or Python.
- Proven record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
What We Offer:
- One-year contract, with the possibility of extension for an additional year, and an annual salary of €37,800. This amount is exclusive of a 33.6% social security contribution.
- Supervised by Dr. Nuria Galiana and in collaboration with Prof. Miguel B. Araújo, offering an opportunity for close collaboration and mentorship.
