Postdoctoral Researcher in Spatial Planning for Marine Protected Areas

Candidate Profile:

Educational and Research Expertise: Candidates should possess a PhD in ecology, marine biology, oceanography, or related fields. A strong publication record in spatial conservation prioritisation, particularly of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), is essential.
Additional Research Skills: Experience in climate change impact assessment, species distribution modelling, and marine ecology or biogeography will be highly regarded.
Technical Proficiency: Solid skills in R (and/or Matlab or Julia), Marxan/Zonation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are required.
Teamwork and Communication: The role demands the ability to work collaboratively in teams, effectively share ideas, and engage in networking.
Language Proficiency: Excellent writing skills and fluency in English are mandatory. Spanish language skills are an asset but not a requirement.

What We Offer:

Contract Duration and Salary: A 2-year contract with a salary commensurate with experience, ranging from €40,000 (starting level) to approximately €50,000 (advanced level). This is exclusive of a 33.6% addition for social security.
Supervision and Collaboration: Supervised by Research Professor Miguel B. Araújo and Jorge Assis, offering an opportunity for close collaboration and mentorship.
